Well, this concludes the last of 10 body percussion ideas for you to try. What better way to end than with a big high five!?!
Gimme a high five!
This body percussion activity is a challenge, but very satisfying when you get it right! It involves learning 2 separate patterns, splitting into 2 teams and then playing both patterns simultaneously. The body sounds you'll be using are STAMP (stamp your foot), THIGH (tap thigh), BELLY (tap belly), CLAP (clap, obviously!)
Pattern 1
First, learn pattern 1 (listen to "High five R1" in the player below). Repeat this pattern 3 times.
The actions are STAMP, STAMP, THIGH, THIGH, BELLY, BELLY, CLAP!
Pattern 2
Next learn pattern 2 (listen to "High five R2" in the player below). Repeat this pattern 4 times.
The actions are STAMP, STAMP, THIGH, THIGH, CLAP!
All together!
Everyone partners up. This could be in 2 lines facing eachother or just wherever the students are in the class (I like 2 lines). One person does rhythm 1 (3 times), and the other does rhythm 2 (4 times). On the final clap of the rhythm on the final repetition, subsititute the clap for a high five!
